Honourable Donald Okogbe Esq., earned a law degree from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma , Edo State in 2005 and immediately proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Abuja where he won an award as the “Best Student in Advocacy”. Subsequently he was enrolled as a solicitor and advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. His mandatory one year National service was at Paiko Local Government Area Council of Niger State as a legal officer in the year 2007.
He cut his legal teeth as an intern at Wale Babalakin [SAN] & Co. Post-graduation, he commenced pupillage under the law firm of Mike Mamman Osumah [SAN] & Co. (Fati Chambers). He then moved to the law firm of Ibrahim Idris [SAN] & Co. After a combined period of 4 years of mentorship and learning the rudiments of legal practice, he sought a new challenge by establishing Donald Okogbe Esq. & Co. with strong interests in litigations, property law, legal drafting & conveyance, commercial law, election petitions, legal aids etc. He was part of the team that won the landmark judgment at the Supreme Court of Nigeria on the disputed 76 oil wells between the governments of Cross River and Akwa-Ibom States in 2012.
As a Senior Legislative Aide at the National Assembly, Abuja, he helped to deepened democracy as he engaged in legislative drafting and research to develop relevant bills and motions.
The call to serve saw him contest in 2002 ,won and serve as president, Students’ Union Government (SUG) at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. In 2015, he became a Senior Special Assistant to the Edo State Government and served concurrently as the personal aide to the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Philip Shaibu. He was thereafter appointed as the Honourable Commissioner for Chieftaincy & Community Affairs in 2021. He was nominated, contested and won election into the Edo State House of Assembly to represent Akoko-Edo Constituency II in 2023. His area of legislative interests includes education, youth engagement & empowerment, rural development, agriculture etc.
Cumulatively, he has cognate work experience spanning 18 years, cutting across both private and public sectors showcasing his adeptness at negotiating, youth mentorship, community engagements, public policy re-engineering, leadership etc. at multi-dimensional levels.
As a member of the Benin Club, he plays golf, listens to classical music , read biographies and loves travelling.
He is married and blessed with children.
